Reunions Show Support

The Reunion celebrations are a central part of the Alumni Weekend experience, bringing together classmates who may have graduated more than a half-century ago. As part of their celebration, alumni also generously and graciously support current students and faculty by contributing to their Reunion Gift through the St. Mark’s Fund.

In 2018–2019, alumni from Reunion classes raised more than $955,000 for the St. Mark’s Fund, the second-highest total since Alumni Weekend started and accounting for 46 percent of all alumni giving. Seven classes (1964, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, and 2004) raised more than $100,000 individually. The Classes of 1989, 1994, 1999, and 2004 all set a new record for their respective class.

The Class of 1964, led by Allen Cullum ’64, Mike Phillips ’64, and Ley Waggoner ’64, set a 55th Reunion record for both giving and participation. The class raised more than $185,000 with 52 percent participation. For its incredible work, the Class received the Class of 1954 Award, which is given to the Class with the largest average gift size.

The Class of 1999 secured two of the three signature Alumni Awards. With nearly 70 percent participation by Alumni Weekend, the Class won the Papert Bowl, named in honor of Samuel W. Papert, Jr. ’37 and given to the class with the highest participation by Alumni Weekend.

With a 13 percent increase in participation over last year, the Class of 1999 also received the Alumni Cup, given to the Class with the greatest increase in participation over the previous year. Co-Chairs Patrick Collins ’99, B.A. Cullum ’99, and Chris Winn ’99 led the way.

Finally, the Class of 2004 set two incredible records for 15th Reunion giving. Under the leadership of Co-Chairs Nick Cassavechia ’04, Bradley Hicks ’04, Ross Ruschhaupt ’04, and Kace Phillips ’04, more than three-quarters of the Class together contributed more than $100,000 to the St. Mark’s Fund.

On the evening of Saturday, April 27, St. Mark’s hosted 15 Reunion celebrations across Dallas. Hundreds of alumni, their families, and their former teachers and mentors gathered to recall their shared experience and, through their generosity, ensure that experience for generations of Marksmen to come.
